This knife tray conveniently houses all kitchen cutlery in a drawer without occupying valuable counter space. The 14 knife slots include space for eight steak knives or shorter knives with up to a 5-inch blade and six longer knives with up to a 10-inch blade or, alternately, a sharpening steel. The slots intersperse the longer knives between the shorter in what Wusthof refers to as a "wave" pattern, which makes knife handles easier to grasp and remove. Blades are completely covered in the slots to prevent against accidental cuts and to keep them from dulling.
